Kanga Kare is one of Lincoln’s newest child care providers, nestled in an established neighborhood near 31st & C. The provider, open since September, is licensed for 94 and has 50 enrolled.
“When this opportunity became available, it just made sense to make it a place for our employees’ families and the community.” said Mike Olderbak, Owner of Kabredlo’s Property who has 60 employees. “Good, reliable child care was always a concern for our employees.”
Kanga Kare is also open to the public. They accept subsidy so low-income families also have access to quality early childhood education.
The rooms, designated for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, are fully equipped with age-appropriate toys and caring teachers. Families can utilize Kanga Kare’s before and after-school programming for school-age children, as well as summer day-camp experiences.
The hallmark of the building is the outdoor space. Children can play under a large canopy of trees, run on vast patches of green grass, climb on a huge play structure where they pretend to drive a bus or sell ice cream.
Employees even lent their talents to the remodel of the building, which has always been a child care center but needed improvements. “On the day the play structure arrived, we had 10 employees here to help.” Michael Olderbak, Mike’s son and Director of Operations for Kabredlo’s Property.

Businesses make great partners in helping to improve our city’s early childhood capacity.”
