Lincoln has many programs and initiatives working towards retaining skilled talent within its workforce. One of its programs focuses on reaching students before they enter the workforce. MyTern, Lincoln’s signature summer internship networking program, wrapped up a successful summer slate of four networking events designed to showcase Lincoln, not only as a great place to work, but a great place to find meaningful community and quality of life.
Launched by the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development in 2017, MyTern connects interns from a variety of backgrounds and organizations over the summer for engaging events that embody the best parts of Lincoln.
More than 170 interns participated in this year’s events, which included Saltdogs baseball from a private box suite, mini bowling at Bob and Willie’s Wonderbowl, Happy Hour at Tavern on the Square, and mini golf at the Adventure Golf Center. Interns forged new relationships, had meaningful conversations, and made valuable professional connections all while experiencing some of what Lincoln has to offer.
Workforce and talent retention continues to be important components of the work at the Lincoln Chamber and Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development. As talent and workforce challenges continue to significantly impact the business landscape in Lincoln, programs like MyTern are uniquely positioned to help local businesses leaders address challenges and build lasting and sustainable solutions to the workforce and talent needs of our city.
