Youth Leaders Connect to Prosper Lincoln

Published 11/22/2016

The Youth Leadership Lincoln program (YLL) works to enhance the knowledge and leadership skills of area high school students by motivating and empowering them to be committed to their community. The YLL program provides an interactive, hands-on experience in which students focus on developing leadership skills and lift-long commitment to community service. Participants have the opportunity to meet with community leaders from all areas of society and learn firsthand how youth leadership can make a difference.

On November 8, 2016, Prosper Lincoln’s leaders, Michelle Suarez, Bryan Seck and Rich Claussen, participated in hosting the YLL XX participants in a round table/fireside chat format at Educare of Lincoln. They learned about Prosper Lincoln’s focus on early childhood, employment skills and innovation/entrepreneurship. The students asked good questions and many expressed interest in learning more and getting involved. What a great opportunity to bring the Prosper Lincoln message to over 40 Lincoln area youth.

Leadership Lincoln’s Program Director, Laura Uridil, summed it up nicely, “We believe that awareness leads to engagement which leads to more voices at decision-making tables which improves the quality of life for all in our community. And what better way to do that than helping our youth to learn more about the Prosper Lincoln initiative and then encouraging them to get involved to make a difference?”
